Prospective Students

Markfield Institute of Higher Education offers a range of postgraduate and research programmes on a full or part-time basis. Taught courses are structured around modules that can be taken at certificate, diploma or Master's Degree level. Research degrees involve defining your own area of enquiry with guidance and support on hand throughout the project.

POSTGRADUATE TAUGHT COURSES
Students can undertake taught programmes at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education (MIHE), leading to the Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, and Master's Degree in a range of subject areas.
For detailed information go to the courses section. Select the ones you are interested in to see a description of the course with a link to the list of modules available.

APPLYING FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDY
You may apply to study for the Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Master's Degree. Successful applicants will be accepted on to the programme for one of these awards in the first instance depending on their qualifications.
If you wish to take one or more modules as a ‘taster' of postgraduate study, you should apply to become an Associate Student. If you already have a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent, you may be able to claim credit for your previous learning.
Please contact us if you have any queries about your qualifications, eligibility or about claiming credit for your previous learning.

POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH DEGREES
You will be asked to submit a 1,500 word outline of your proposed research project with your application form.
This will enable us to assess the nature and scope of your topic and ensure your project can be supervised by the most appropriate staff in a supportive research environment. Candidates are invited for an interview with the Research Director and to meet potential supervisors.
If your application is successful, you will receive a formal offer in writing from the Research Administrator.
Most students begin their programme in October, January or May.
A Research Degree involves defining your own area of research enquiry, and devising methods to answer the questions which you yourself conduct.
