MIHE and BMHC hold seminar on Islamic Ethos in Wealth Management

The Markfield Institute of Higher Education and the British Muslim Heritage Centre, Manchester held a seminar under the theme of 'Islamic Ethos in Wealth Management in the Modern Financial Environment' at the Centre's headquarters in Manchester on 5 February 2011.

The seminar which was well attended, was first addressed by Dr Ugi Suharto, Senior Lecturer MIHE, who discussed the concept of wealth management from an Islamic perspective. The second speaker, Sheikh Faizal Manjoo, Lecturer in Islamic Law & Finance, spoke about the factors to consider to make the investment portfolio sharia compliant. The third speaker was Mohammed Amin, former Senior Partner at PWC, who elaborated on how investment are taxed.

The seminar concluded with a panel discussion which allowed participants to put their questions to the speakers.
