Facilities

Library

Students and staff of the Institute benefit from the on site library which contains over 30,000 books and 420 serials with 85 current journals. Students are able to use University of Leicester Library and De Montford University Library as reference.

Accommodation

Self catering accommodation is available on site at a cost of £45 per week with  separate quarters for men and women. As there are only a limited number of rooms, allocations are made on a first come first served basis. Male only accommodation is also available in the village of Markfield.

IT Facilities

The Computer Room is located upstairs in the MIHE building and is accessible 9 am to 10 pm every day. The Computer Room has 21 PCs running a wide variety of software, ranging from general 'office' type applications to course specific software (Transliteration, Econometrics, etc).

Video Conference Facilities

The video Conference facilities combine various universities and the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, joining notable Muslim scholars from different countries who are experts in their respective fields thus providing a platform for students to interact globally with their peers and learn from the best.

Extracurricular Activities

Currently, there are facilities on site for playing football, volley ball, badminton, pool and table tennis. There is also a small gym. It is hoped that once the expansion programme for the Institute begins, these facilities will be extended to include other outdoor and indoor games.

Prayer Hall

There is an on-campus Prayer Hall for students, staff and visitors, open 24 hours a day. An ablution area is conveniently located. The Prayer Hall can accommodate approximately 100 people (both Sisters and Brothers). Jummah Khuttbas are conducted by visiting scholars and MIHE students & staff.

Support Services

We recognize that students coming to a new country, living away from family and friends and with the demands placed upon them by their academic studies can experience a variety of challenges. To support their academic achievements and ensure they obtain maximum benefit from their studies, MIHE provides a range of support services.
